LMC approves 13 stadiums ahead of 2020/2021 NPFL season

The League Management Company (LMC) ahead of the 2020/21 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season, has certified 13 stadiums across the country to have met minimum requirements to host games as part of the broader club licensing regime. They also recommended 11 others for varying degrees of upgrade and repair works before they can be certified. This was revealed to the clubs in a memo which the LMC sent out on Friday, October 30. The memo read in part, “in line with the CAF Circular of July 26, 2020 on stadium infrastructure among others, which was forwarded to you and the need to meet up with the requirements of high quality television production by our new partners, the LMC has reviewed various reports submitted on the state of our stadia across the country”.

According to Paris St-Germain’s club’s coach Thomas Tuchel, Brazil forward Neymar will be sidelined until after the international break in mid-November he revealed on Friday. This is as a result of his injury against Istanbul Basaksehir in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday. Neymar was taken off due to a thigh muscle problem in the 26th minute of the 2-0 win over the Turkish side. “Neymar should be back after the international break,” Tuchel told reporters ahead of PSG’s Ligue 1 game at Nantes on Saturday.

Cristiano Ronaldo set to end self isolation in 3 days

According to the protocol approved by the Technical-Scientific committee, asymptomatic people with a low viral load are allowed to leave self-isolation after 21 days as it is impossible for them to infect other people. This is now in favour of the legendary Portuguese international Cristiano Ronaldo, as he has been in self isolation for the last 18 days since he tested positive, Ronaldo has never had symptoms and has remained in quarantine. According to reports he is set to return from isolation in three days time. The Juventus striker, however, would not be able to play a competitive game until he has one negative swab test.

In preparation for the upcoming season, Kwara United has gone an extra mile to sign Lucas Alves, a Brazilian winger, as one of their players for the upcoming 2020/2021 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season. As he was unveiled on Monday at the club’s office inside the Kwara State Stadium Complex in Ilorin. Juventus has announced on Saturday that their whole squad has gone into isolation after two staff members tested positive for CoronaVirus. They were scheduled to host Napoli on Sunday, and also confirmed that those returning positive tests were “neither players nor members of the technical or medical staff”. “This procedure will allow all members who tested negative to the controls to carry out regular training and match activities, but will not be allowed contact with outside the group,” the club revealed.

The Nigerian super eagle's striker Victor Osimhen has been substituted by the The Nigeria Football Federation in the upcoming Super Eagles friendly games against Tunisia and Algeria. The real reason has not been revealed yet, but it is believed that this is a safety measure taken to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 in the Super Eagles camp. Osimhen’s Serie A club Napoli discovered this week that midfielders Piotr Zielinski and Eljif Elmas had contracted COVID-19, with the squad’s other players returning negative tests. His substitute, Onuachu, is currently in good form in the Belgian Jupiler League with Genk. His goal in Saturday’s draw at Waasland-Beveren was his seventh of the season, in his seventh game which sees him lead the league’s top goal scorer’s charts.
